Makanati’s primary objective is to enhance women's access to job opportunities by addressing societal perceptions and practices that hinder their participation. Through the challenge and transformation of these norms, the project strives to create a more inclusive and equitable working environment. This encompasses advocating for policy and regulatory changes that promote gender equality and fair treatment within the tourism and creative industries sectors.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness of the importance of economic empowerment of Jordanian women
- Improve and change attitudes towards women's employment in the Tourism Sector and creative industries
- Advocate for policy and regulatory reform to improve women's access to equal work opportunities
The project acknowledges the distinct and complex conditions in the project's location and among the target population. Implementation of the project can be influenced by a variety of social, economic, and political factors. For instance, cultural norms and traditional beliefs can have a substantial impact on women's involvement in the workforce. The project will take these factors into account and tailor interventions that are context-specific to effectively overcome obstacles and promote women's economic empowerment and participation.
Targeted governorates: Aqaba, Petra, Wadi Rum, Amman, Dead Sea Region, Zarqa, Irbid, Jerash, and Ajloun.
